Out of the 6,683 players who have participated in the World Series of Poker 10-day event, only nine remain. The November Nine is a competition graced by a diverse group of players and possibly the loudest and most vibrant crowds in the industry. Among the players is the 2013 WSOP Main Event final table member, Mark Newhouse. Mark Newhouse came in ninth out of the 6,352 players to enter the final table in 2013. Let us look at a list of the players who will compete for the top prize of $ 10 million in November this year.
1. Jorryt van Hoof (38.375 million in chips)This talented Dutchman has made it to the final table, just like his compatriot Michiel Brummelhuis last year. That means a Dutch finalist for the second year in a row. He is a cash game professional with a great passion for online poker. He also owns a popular poker-training site where he shares his 10 years of professional experience.
2. Felix Stephensen (32.775 million in chips)
At only 23 years old, Felix Stephensen from Norway is as good as any one of the top players in the industry. He got into his second WSOP event with only $22,118 in earnings from live tournaments but left the Rio with a lot more. Felix Stephensen plays Pot-limit Omaha cash games online. He does not like tournaments and therefore does not travel around the European Poker scene.
3. Mark Newhouse (26.000 million in chips)
Now this poker player does not need any introduction. This man has made it to the final table two years in a row, a feat that many would not even imagine. No one at the final table can rival the experience of this WPT champion!
4. Andoni Larrabe (22.550 million in chips)
At 22, this is his first time at the final table. After years of online multi-table tournaments, Larrabe now plays the live circuit. He got into the multi-table tournament scene at 18 under the code name ‘pollopopeye’. He has two online titles from the Spring Championship of Online Poker. He also won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2013 and has three WSOP cash outs.
5. Dan Sindelar (21.200 million in chips)
This is Dan Sindelar’s 18th career WSOP cash and his fourth time at the round table. Six years ago, he moved from Nebraska to Vegas to pursue the game full time. He has been playing a few tournaments occasionally and pivoted to playing live cash games after Black Friday.
6. William Pappaconstantinou (17.500 million in chips)
A world foosball champion, the 29 year old got the chance to play in the WSOP for the first time and hopes to add a poker championship to his countless titles in foosball. He is the only amateur at the November Nine this year but don’t take him lightly – this guy’s got lots of drive!
7. Will Tonking (15.050 million in chips)
This is Will Tonking’s first main event cash game. He plays professionally both online and live in New Jersey. He recently won $50, 000 on WSOP.com before going to Vegas and making money on the mixed-max event.
8. Martin Jacobson (14.900 million in chips)
Jacobson already has an impressive reputation. He cashed three times after playing 27 events at the 2014 WSOP event. His experience in the Super High Roller events all over the world will go a long way in helping him at the final table.
9. Bruno Politano (12.125 million in chips)
Before this event, the 31 year old had $110,054 in his tournament earnings, which include WSOP cash. Bruno Politano is the first Brazilian to make it to the final table.
Catch these 9 players in action on 10 November but do look out for ESPN’s scoop on the main event starting 28 September.
